CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations (Victoria)
This is a nationally recognised qualification that aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills that aims to assist in gaining employment as a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting, or guarding property while unarmed, screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises.
After successfully completing this qualification you will have fulfilled the requirements to apply for a private security licence through Victoria Police, to perform security activities including unarmed guard, crowd control and control room operator in Victoria.

- CPPSEC2108 Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security

There are no formal pre-requisites for students looking to enrol in this course
Entry Requirements:
MA Training Academy requires learners to:
- Have language, literacy and numeracy skills to an ACSF level 2. If you require further information on this please contact us.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold an appropriate Visa to work in Australia. Please be advised we are unable to train students on a student visa. You must find a CRICOS registered training provider.
In addition to the above to be eligible to apply for a private security licence or registration in Victoria you must be over 18 years of age, undertake a National Police Check including fingerprints and be a fit and proper person.

Course Delivery and Assessment:
Our course has been developed by industry experts, it is easy to follow, interactive and engaging. You will learn from industry trainers who will support you and you will have great hands-on experience during the course.
- Core unit theory and essential knowledge component are delivered in the classroom.
- Your practical skills will be developed through practical simulations under supervision.
- Assessment will be through demonstration of knowledge through written answers and projects and demonstration of workplace skills and knowledge through practical simulations of workplace activities.
We have developed online learning resources and tools to make your learning much easier. You will be allocated a tablet for use during class time which means you won’t have to hand write everything! As part of your pre-enrolment process, we will discuss this further with you and explore any support where necessary.
Course Duration:
Day Course: 18-days Mon-Fri (8.30am-4.30pm).
OR
Night Course: 36-nights Mon-Fri (5.30pm-10.00pm)
Attendance:
Students must attend all training sessions.
Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this Qualification, you will be issued with an official certificate; CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations.
What are the eligibility requirements for a security licence in Victoria?
After the successful completion of this course, you will be able to apply for a Private Security Individual Licence. It is critical that you familiarise yourself with the eligibility requirements for a Private Security individual LIcence in Victoria prior to committing to this course. What are the job pathways in the security industry?
There are many opportunities in the security industry including unarmed guarding, crowd controller, shopping centre guard, event security, control room operator, monitoring centre operator and mobile patrol.
This qualification can also lead to further learning and pathways to work in guarding cash-in-transit, close protection, training, guarding with a dog, security equipment installer and security advisor.
I completed a Security Course a number of years ago, do need to do it again?
Once you complete a security course Certificates are valid for licensing purposes for 12-months in Victoria. If you have previously undertaken a Security course more than 12 months ago you may need to renew some or all of the Qualification or you may be eligible for a credit transfer for some units.
Do I need to renew my security license?
Yes, a private security license is generally valid for 3-years. Victoria Police will send you a renewal notice before your license expires to enable you to pay the required renewal fee. For this reason, it is important to keep your contact details up to date.
