Course Overview:
We understand the importance of holding current first aid and CPR skills & knowledge and have designed our course with flexible learning options so you can choose when and where you learn. All courses are delivered with strict infection control practices.
Choose Your Course:
You can choose which delivery option works best for you:
- 2-day (16 hours) face-to-face (F2F) course OR
- 1-day (8 hours) face-to-face (F2F) with eLearn + theory assessment to be completed before attendance
Units of Competency:
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid (Renew every 3 years*), and
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Renew every year*)
Course Content:
- Responding to emergencies
- Basic life support, CPR procedures and AED (automated external defibrillator)
- Applying appropriate first aid procedures
- Bleeding and wound care, burns and scalds
- Poisons and toxic substances, bites and stings
- Shock management and musculoskeletal injuries
- Dealing with emergency services and reviewing first aid response
Pre-requisites:
There are no formal pre-requisites for students looking to enrol in this course
Entry Requirements:
MA Training Academy requires learners to have language, literacy and numeracy skills to an ACSF level 2. If you require further information on this, please contact us.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT):
All prospective students enrolling in the course are entitled to apply for RPL or CT. For additional information, please refer to our policies available on our website.
eLearn + 1-day face-to-face (F2F) course:
To complete the eLearn module, you will need access to a computer, laptop or iPad. The module can also be completed on an iPhone; however, we recommend the above.
You will need internet access and a basic level of digital literacy skills. You will need to allow approximately 5 hours to complete the eLearn module and theory assessment which must be completed at least 48-hours before your scheduled face-to-face (F2F) practical assessment (1-day).
2-day face-to-face (F2F) course:
Our 2-day face-to-face (F2F) course is fully delivered in the classroom, it is interactive and involves lots of scenario based activities. We have developed online learning resources for this course to make your learning much easier. You will be allocated a tablet for use during class time which means you don’t have to hand write everything! During the enrolment process we can discuss any support that may be required.
Assessment
Assessment includes knowledge questions (completed online for eLearn), practical and scenario-based assessment completed in the F2F sessions.
Assessment requires students to demonstrate the ability to correctly perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor. If you have a limitation that would affect your ability to complete the course, please call us to discuss prior to booking.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
All courses are delivered with strict infection control practices.
How long does a First Aid Certificate last?
Training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) should be carried out annually and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years.
