Certificate II in Security Operations (NSW)
This course provides students with knowledge and skills that aims to assist in gaining employment as a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting, or guarding property while unarmed, screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises in the State of New South Wales.
Pre-requisites:
To undertake this course, you MUST have a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Certificate.
Entry Requirements:
MA Training Academy requires learners to:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be an Australian/New Zealand citizen or permanent Australian resident or hold a visa that entitles you to work in Australia (other than a student or working holiday visa)
- Provide 100 points of identification on enrolment
You also need to meet SLED requirements including:
- Successfully completing the SLED mandated language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment and
- Meet the general suitability, criminal and other related history suitability criteria as outlined in the link below.

- CPPSEC2101 Apply effective communication skills to maintain security
- CPPSEC2102 Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team
- CPPSEC2103 Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security
- CPPSEC2104 Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations
- CPPSEC2105 Provide quality services to a range of security clients
- CPPSEC2106 Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
- CPPSEC2107 Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
- CPPSEC2108 Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
- CPPSEC2109 Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
- CPPSEC2110 Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
- CPPSEC2111 Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
- CPPSEC2112 Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises
- CPPSEC2113 Escort and protect persons and valuables
You will receive a credit for your current first aid certificate HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Course Delivery and Assessment:
Our course has been developed by industry experts, it is easy to follow, interactive and engaging. You will learn from industry trainers who will support you and you will have great hands-on experience during the course.
- Core unit theory and essential knowledge component are delivered in the classroom.
- Your practical skills will be developed through practical simulations under supervision.
- Assessment will be through demonstration of knowledge through written answers and projects and demonstration of workplace skills and knowledge through practical simulations of workplace activities.
We have developed online learning resources and tools to make your learning much easier. You will be required to bring a laptop or iPad to training which means you won’t have to hand write everything! We have a limited number of laptops as backup which can be booked for use in class if required.
Course Duration:
15-days full-time (8.00am-5.00pm) weekdays.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this Qualification, you will be issued with an official certificate; CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations.
Security Licence:
The completion of this NSW Security Licence Course (SLC) may enable you to apply for an NSW Class 1 licence, also known as a Security Operative Licence. This licence allows you to work in a wide variety of security roles in NSW.
It is essential that you familiarise yourself with the eligibility requirements for NSW Class 1 licence prior to undertaking this course.
